* A .577 SNIDER / ENFIELD MK II** BREECH LOADING CADET CARBINE SIGNED ENFIELD AND DATED 1859, serial no. 377, with 19 1/4ins. barrel rifled with three grooves, profusely British ordnance proofed and "W.D|." marked at breech, hinged breech block stamped "B.S.A. & CO" and "SNIDER'S PATENT", the lock having the crown "V.R." cypher on the tail and "1859 ENFIELD" to the centre, the walnut half-stock fitted with regulation brass mounts, the carbine has been refinished and now has full blue finish to barrel and bands, case colours to lock and action, the stock also refinished with some loss of sharpness. This arm was originally made as a three band muzzle loading rifle then converted to a Snider breech loading rifle by B.S.A. then at a later date converted to a cadet carbine.
